Exercise Rehabilitation Programs

Exercise rehabilitation is an important part of recovery from any type of injury. Our Registered Kinesiologists use their extensive knowledge, experience and skills in exercise science, sports and injury rehabilitation to design and monitor specialized exercise programs. Core strengthening is heavily emphasized in these programs, which can be completed in an athletic facility or at home. The focus of these programs is not only to rehabilitate the injured area but also to help our patients achieve their fitness goals safely.

Our physiotherapists and kinesiologists use the Specific Functional Movements assessments and Functional Movement Screens to provide a clear functional assessment and to offer further guidance for developing an exercise program. Our goal is to promote an active lifestyle and provide an exercise program that will enhance your recovery and help prevent future injuries.

The collaboration between Exercise is Medicine Canada and the Physio Sports Care Centre is designed to promote the benefits of exercising. Exercise is Medicine Canada is a movement to make Canadians healthier that works in partnership with the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology.

We also encourage the use of a StepsCount Piezo-SC StepRxTM pedometer to offer a fun and easy method of keeping track of steps while promoting the benefits of exercising to people of all ages.

Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and Fitness Session

For both athletes and the general population alike, the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) is a powerful tool in assessing functional movement patterns. By conducting various movement and positional tests, we will identify movement pattern dysfunctions that negatively affect performance, cause pain and present a risk for injuries.

Once any movement pattern dysfunctions have been identified, we will develop a corrective strategy from a manual therapy and exercise standpoint in order to improve function. To get you started in the right direction, FMS will be offered in combination with a recommended fitness program.
